Faculty Guild Names Tony Pianta as Founding Chief Technology Officer

PIANTA TO OVERSEE THE DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS DESIGNED TO ENGAGE FACULTY IN THEIR OWN LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

ARLINGTON, Va. – September 21, 2017 — Faculty Guild, an educational services organization offering personalized professional development to help higher education faculty improve their own teaching and produce better student outcomes, has named Tony Pianta as its founding chief technology officer. In this role, Pianta will drive the technology development, security and IT operations for the company.

With professional facilitators, a community of peers and easy-to-use online software, Faculty Guild offers higher education instructors an opportunity to consider their own teaching choices through a prism of research-based quality teaching practice. The company’s approach is based on six years of research, development, application and analysis, led by Dr. Gail Mellow, president of LaGuardia Community College.

Before joining Faculty Guild, Pianta served as the director of engineering for IT.com and as an engineering team lead at Hobsons, Inc. and Starfish Retention Solutions, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Virginia Tech.
